Jan Stöckel's classroom 1944 - 2022 "Mutual understanding is important" Researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Nuclear Faculty of Czech Technical University. Actively worked on tokamaks CASTOR, GOLEM and COMPASS. The main area of his research was the measurement of plasma edge properties using various advanced electrostatic probes. On FNSPE CTU ensured the continuity of operation of the GOLEM tokamak with its former operation under the name CASTOR at the IPP AS. He was the author of the idea remote control of its operation and contributed very substantially to the creation of the concept and the start-up of the entire workplace. Raised directly or indirectly a whole generation of young fusion scientists and technologists, without him the current level of Czech Republic research and education in the field of plasma physics would be unthinkable. He established a number of informal relationships with the top of European fusion research and promoted the entry of the Institute of Plasma Physics and Nuclear faculty to the EURATOM Association. As a person, Honza was a very inspiring person who attracted a lot of people with his character. Unforgettable and unique were his extra-scientific social activities with the guitar, singing together and dancing. Students liked it very much, he was kind and generous in sharing his experience and ability in physics. He was always smiling and joking, he loved life and his work.
