#Plasma tube
Among the hardware stored at GOLEM, there is an old plasma tube.
The total height of the device is 35 cm. The width of its ceramic base is 11.5 cm and its height is 12.5 cm. Both the valves are 15 cm long. The central electrode, mounted on a 10 cm glass-insulated copper stem (measuring from the upper rim of the ceramic base), ends in a ball of 1 cm diameter.
The purpose of the device was estimated as a plasma tube since the bottom side hosts a pair of nuts capable of pinching a power inlet wire. Literature about plasma tube construction and operation can be found here: PowerLabs, TeslaBoys, Instructables, Amasci, Psu
The device has not been tested. Its inlets/outlets seem to be glued shut, so it’s possible the inside is already evacuated and filled with a noble gas. However, it has been lying around for a long time, and if there are leaks in the vacuum glass, the vacuum inside is already non-existent. The central electrode is leaning to the side, too, so any discharge produced by the device will be asymmetric.
On 22nd November, the device was photographed, documented, and stowed away at Vodárna (ask Vojtech Svoboda to find it).
