Diagnostics/ParticleFlux/DoubleRakeProbe/Equipment/Silver_box

Support equipment for the double rake probe: the “silver box”.

A so-called “silver box” is a part of the experimental setup of the double rake probe. The signal from the probe goes to the silver box, then it goes to the ADC (initial data processing). The silver box consists of 16 modules, each has a switch between the floating potential and the ion saturated current regimes. In the first one, the signal is simply reduced in a voltage divider to 1% of the input signal. In the second one, the probe is also biased to -100 V and the signal also goes through a voltage divider. The silver box is shown in Figure 1, the switch between the regimes is shown in Figure 2. A modul of the silver box is shown in Figures 3-4. The electric circuit of the silver box is shown in Figure 5, and the complete electric circuit of the experimental setup including the probe is shown in Figure 6 [1]. For more information see Sergei Kulkov, PRPL project.

Individual “Silver boxes”

Each “silver box” has a letter written on it, there are 3 “silver boxes” called “A”, “B” and “C”. And the individual the modules are numbered from 1 to 16 as in principle, each may have a different configuration.
The current configuration of “Silver box B” is the following:

module big_r [kOhm] small_r [kOhm] isat_r [Ohm]
B01 681 6.66 223 000
B02 660 6.78 4.7 (5W4R7J)
B03 665 6.78 4.7 (5W4R7J)
