##Construction proposals for new ring design:

New ring will be placed on position 180 degrees relative to old diagnostic ring. Its design is divided into two parts:

1 Support structure – part inserted into vacuum that holds the diagnostics 2 Vacuum flange with cable outlets – part facing atmosphere that is mounted on diagnostic port. Contains outlets for cables of diagnostics to leave vacuum region.

More details:

  • Support structure: Its design will be more or less the same as with previous ring, since its parameters are from the most part given by construction of port and chamber. See blueprints ‘velky_port.png’. There will be two rings encircling the plasma behind limiter radius (see RING TOKAMAKU G.pdf blueprints), on whose inner sides the diagnostics will be mounted. Two rings will be held by two rods made of stainless steel. The parameters of all the components in blueprints are such, that no larger construction would fit the chamber, so this will not change on new ring.

  • Flange: The most problematic part. We do not have any more flanges of our own, so it will need to be constructed anew. The most challenging will be to come up with an appropriate cable outlets. We want them to be in form of standard National Instruments output, so please discuss details with him. Our old ring already had this part finished so this is new issue to be solved.

Proposed diagnostics:

  • Array of Mirnov coils: This choice seems natural. We can discuss the parameters and construction of coils anytime later, the coils as such are not really a problem. The current ring has coils implemented as you know from Gomtraic, see ring_coils.png blueprints, I would like to keep this design if possible.
  • Diamagnetic measurements: Currently there are no diamagnetic measurements on tokamak GOLEM and this ring seems optimal for implementation of this diagnostics. The sensors as such are not really any problem, but due to low signal of diamagnetic effect, a precise electronics is necessary to construct first. This is job for electrotechnician, so unless you are expert in this field, we will try to find some on IPP AVCR. But due to that we will need to think about the details of this sensor beforehand.
